Bath woman succumbs to injuries from Hanover Township crash

Hailey E. Weil, 21, of Bath Borough, was pronounced dead after a three-vehicle crash that occurred Aug. 17.
While on a routine patrol around 11:39 a.m. Aug. 17, a trooper came upon a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Airport Road and Race Street, Hanover Township, Lehigh County, according to Pennsylvania State Police-Troop M, Bethlehem.
It was determined a 2004 Subaru Forester, operated by Weil; a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck, operated by a 42-year-old male from Nazareth; and a 2025 Ford Explorer, operated by a 63-year-old male from Pottsville, crashed at the intersection of Airport Road and Race Street.
A crash-detection alert on Weil’s iPhone reported the collision occurred approximately 11:35 a.m., the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center reported. Weil was transported from the scene to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.
According to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center, she was pronounced dead around 12:53 p.m. Aug. 17 in the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. The cause of death is multiple traumatic injuries, and the manner of death is accident.

During the crash investigation, all traffic was detoured at Airport Road and Grove Road and Airport and Schoenersville roads, PSP reported. The scene was cleared by 2:30 p.m.
This crash remains under investigation by the PSP Bethlehem Patrol Unit, Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center and Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office. Assisting with this investigation are Troop M Collision Analysis Reconstruction Specialist Unit, Troop M Forensic Services Unit, Troop M Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program, Catasauqua Fire Department, Northampton Borough Fire Department, Han-Le-Co Fire Company, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Lehigh Valley International Airport Police and Northampton Regional EMS.
