The Lower Macungie Senior Connie Mack team dropped its regular season finale last Wednesday and then fell in its first playoff game this past Monday night.

The Mustangs lost 3-1 at Hellertown in the season finale, finishing the regular season with a 9-5-3 overall record. They earned the ninth seed in the playoffs. In the first round, LM traveled to the eighth seed Nazareth and was defeated 4-3 Monday in nine innings.

In the game with Hellertown, Lower Mac scored its only run in the top of the sixth inning after it trailed 3-0k.

After two scoreless innings, Hellertown brought home two runs in the bottom of the third and then added a third run in the fifth.

Ryley George doubled home Chase Evans for the Mustangs’ lone run. They finished with five hits, all coming from five different players. Evans, George, Chase Belzecky, Braden Schadler and Dylan Haughney all had a hit.

George and Evans both combined to throw six innings on the mound.

In the game against the Blue Eagles, Lower Macungie led through the first four innings until the hosts tied the score with a run in the fifth. Three scoreless innings followed and then Nazareth scored a run in the bottom of the ninth on a steal of home after an attempted pick off move.

Owen Herrity got the scoring going in the game with an RBI double in the top of the first inning and then scored on a wild pitch in the next at-bat to put his team up 2-0.

After Nazareth got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom half of the frame, the Mustangs tacked on another with a run-scoring double from George to go ahead 3-1.

That was all of the scoring for the visitors the rest of the way, as the Blue Eagles scored a run in the third and fifth and then the ninth to win it.

Lower Macungie finished with seven hits, two coming from both George and Justin Spagna. Herrity, Belzecky and Luke Harris all recorded a hit.

The Mustangs ended the year at 9-6-3.
