Emmaus Connie Mack season ends

The Emmaus Senior Connie Mack team had almost two weeks between games at the end of the regular season due to weather. The Hornets dropped their season finale to conclude the season with a five-game losing streak.

The Hornets fell 12-2 in six innings at Silver Creek last Friday evening. Their previous game was on Monday, June 29th.

The hosts jumped out to a sizable early lead with a four-run bottom of the first inning and a two-run second inning to go ahead 6-0. After a scoreless third inning for both teams, Emmaus got on the scoreboard with a run in the top of the fourth inning on a run-scoring single by Josh Knecht, and then added another in the fifth on an RBI single from Jake French to cut the deficit to 6-2.

Silver Creek was able to end the game via mercy rule by tacking on one run in the bottom of the fifth and then ending it with a five-run sixth.

Emmaus actually was neck-and-neck in hits with SC, finishing with nine to their 10, but had two defensive errors, where the hosts had none. Bryce Andrew led the lineup with two hits, while Braiden Marshall, Elijah Deisher, French, Dellin Rodriguez, Taydan Tull, Knecht and Cayden Fick all finished with one hit, with Deisher and Tull scoring a run each.

The Hornets used seven different pitchers on the mound. Silver Creek starter, Quinlen Hoffman threw five innings to earn the win and Lake Slotter pitched one inning.

Emmaus finished the season 4-13 overall. The Hornets’ four wins were against Saylorsburg, Pen Argyl/Bangor, Palmerton and Moore Township.
