LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Editor:

I recently stopped by Illicks Mill Park on an early summer evening to walk along the creek and enjoy the outdoors. When properly maintained, the park is one of the loveliest in the City of Bethlehem. While the ducks seemed happy swimming in the cool waters of the Monocacy Creek, I was disgusted to see the entire area overgrown with weeds so thick that even the access points to the water were inaccessible. The pathway through the park was broken up in many places and so uneven as to make it difficult to walk. The parking lot is a disgrace, filled with potholes that look like they have been there a long time, and it is hard to make out the parking places. And so I ask the city’s leaders: why have you neglected this jewel in our community?
