Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., celebrates Christmas in July through July 31 with lots of Christmas items.

The thrift shop is happy to accept donations of clean used clothing, household items and toys during regular store hours. The shop is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 1229 Third St., and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., Catasauqua, announced new additional masses under new pastor Father Eric Gruber.

Starting the first week of August, the new weekday mass schedule will be: 8 a.m. Mondays at St. John Fisher, followed by the Miraculous Medal Novena; 8 a.m. Tuesdays at St. Mary’s; 6 p.m. Wednesdays at St. John Fisher, followed by Eucharistic exposition until 7:30 p.m. and confessions until 7:15 p.m.; 8 a.m. Thursdays at St. Mary’s; 8 a.m. Fridays at St. John Fisher, followed by Eucharistic exposition until 3 p.m. and Divine Mercy devotions with benediction 3 p.m.; 8 a.m. Saturdays at St. Mary’s, followed by Eucharistic exposition until 9:30 a.m. and confessions until 9:15 a.m.

Saturday morning Mass does not fulfill Sunday obligation. The Saturday vigil masses and Sunday morning masses will remain at their current times.

Bible study will occur 6:30-7:45 p.m. Thursdays at St. John Fisher and 9:40-10:55 a.m. Saturdays at St. Mary’s.

Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association’s Biery House Museum, 8 Race St., Catasauqua, will be having a free open house 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 2. Come visit the museum of Catasauqua history and check out period décor and displays.

There have been many changes over the past year including the addition of wheelchair access via the rear kitchen door and a first-floor restroom, the first-floor event space and art gallery have been converted into period décor, and some of the museum displays have been moved to the first floor.

Families with kids are welcome to the open house, and there will be a fun scavenger hunt for them to explore. There may be prizes and refreshments.

Parking is available in the Deily Coal Yard off Union Street.

The next first Monday car cruise will take place 4-8 p.m. Aug. 3 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. This is an opportunity to show off your classic car while socializing with fellow car enthusiasts. Entrants can give a donation at the entrance gate, and spectators can enjoy the cars free of charge.

Food is available for purchase with all proceeds from food sales going to the Public Library of Catasauqua.

The rain date is the second Monday of the month.

Catasauqua Garden Club next meets Aug. 5 at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St. Doors open 12:30 p.m., with the meeting starting 1 p.m.

This month, the speaker is Master Gardener Krystal Snyder. Learn about the ongoing Penn State flower trials — garden laboratories and garden classrooms for academic study such as horticulture or even just for personal enrichment such as inspiration or simply selecting the best plants for your garden.

The Public Library of Catasauqua’s annual yard sale, in conjunction with Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, will be held 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 8 at the church. Shop from a big selection of household goods and home decor, clothing and accessories, jewelry, toys, collectibles, tools, sporting goods, etc.

Food and beverage will be available for purchase.

All proceeds benefit the library.

If you wish to donate any items to the sale, the church will be accepting donations for drop-off until Aug. 5. Call the church for drop-off hours.

Punk Rock returns to small Town USA with the 13th annual Punk Rock in the Park concert with The Clap and special opening guest the LoFi’s 7-10 p.m. Aug. 7 at the park. The show is free, but attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items for Catasauqua Community Food Bank.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church will hold cash bingo Aug. 16 in the parish center.

The doors and kitchen open 11:30 a.m., with bingo beginning 1 p.m.

There is a cost, which includes 15 games, seven specials and one jackpot round. Bring your daubers, but no hardboards.

No outside food or drinks are permitted. The kitchen will be selling your favorites.

Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine St., will hold the first day of Sunday school Sept. 13 and a special rally day Sept. 20. Sunday school hours are 9:30-10:30 a.m.

The church is welcoming students who would like to attend Sunday school and is also looking for teacher volunteers. Volunteers are required to agree to a background check and training, which is available.

State Rep. Zach Mako, R-133rd, would like to make residents aware that veteran’s assistance is available 10 a.m.-2 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Northampton or Slatington offices on alternating months by appointment only.

A service member from the American Legion is available to meet with local veterans and assist them with issues they may be having accessing benefits and services from the U.S. Veterans Administration.

Build an emergency supply kit. Having enough food, water and medicine can help you stay safe and comfortable until help arrives.

Get involved in your community by taking action to prepare for emergencies. Emergencies can happen fast, and emergency responders aren’t always nearby. Consider taking first aid and CPR courses to help take care of your family, friends and neighbors.

It’s also a good time to remember how dangerous floodwaters can be. If you approach a flooded roadway, turn your vehicle around. It only takes a few inches of water to sweep a vehicle away, putting your life in danger, as well as the lives of first responders who come to your aid. Never drive around “road closed” signs; use detours instead.

North Catasauqua Borough sewer bills were recently sent out to residents and businesses. The borough office reminds residents to make sure you are current on your sewer bill. If you are not, pay it as soon as possible to avoid water shut-off.

Catasauqua Borough is looking for part-time crossing guards for the upcoming 2026-27 school season. Guards work during school hours in the morning and afternoons for the school students who walk.

It is an hourly rate for those looking at bringing on a little extra income and anyone may apply. Training will be required.
