Helmut Wicker

Big Pond United Methodist member

Helmut Wicker, 87, of Schnecksville, died July 2, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Growing up in Germany during World War II, he dreamed of one day coming to America.

That dream became a reality when he immigrated to the United States in 1956 and one of his proudest moments came in 1961 when he became a U.S. citizen.

He enjoyed a distinguished career in engineering and steel can manufacturing, becoming an expert in production line installation and troubleshooting.

His work took him throughout the United States as well as Germany and Brazil before retiring from Can Corp., in Reading, in 2007.

He was an active member of Big Pond United Methodist Church, Faith Wesleyan Church, Masonic Lodge, Rajah Shrine, High Twelve International, Lions Clubs International and the Troy Grange.

He loved hunting, fishing, traveling and the outdoors.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ruthie; children Anneliese (Robert) Gualtieri, Darlene (Wolfgang) Cernoch, Dr. Josef Wicker, and Rachel (Craig) Evans; his cherished grandson Samuel; brothers-in-law Charles (Martha) Denkenberger, James (Joan) Denkenberger and Gerald Pratt; along with many nieces, nephews, treasured friends and neighbors.
