Palladino exhibit ends Aug. 10

Michael Palladino will be exhibiting his mixed media art work from his “Ashland” series at the Bethlehem City Hall Rotunda Gallery from to Aug. 10. The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church St. and is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is closed weekends and holidays.

An international visual artist from the East Village, NYC, Michael specializes in nature-themed carved wooden reliefs that often suggest environmental concerns. He holds a BFA in Studio Art and Design from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. His studio and residence is now on the Delaware River in the Lehigh Valley, where he frequently exhibits.

His “Ashland” series is a mixed media pairing of photographic aerial views of desert landscapes contrasting with their monochromatic, carved wooden counterparts. The vibrant photographs reveal geometric patterns and human interventions within natural terrain, while the charcoal-toned wooden panels trace these forms through textured, charred surfaces. This contrast emphasizes the tension between creation and destruction, highlighting the fragile balance of cultivated land and environmental degradation.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission and the PA Council on the Arts.
