Christmas City 10U All-Stars, a combination of Northwest and Lehigh Little League softball players, won the Section 6 championship on July 8 after defeating Weatherly, 20-0.

“We’ve been working five years towards this goal,” said Christmas City manager Jen Carlo. “This is it. Really strong team.”

It was the second time Christmas City faced Weatherly, also defeating the visitors, 10-0, on July 7.

Roslyn Parry delivered 11 strikeouts in the no-hitter.

“I was just using fastball,” Parry said. “[C.C. Rivera and I] really connect, and she catches good for me, and she’s one of my best friends. It actually is really great. Our team showed up today, and we won that game.”

Parry and Rivera are veterans on the team.

“I think we really improved, so it’s been doing great, and we’re good friends, so it’s a good pair,” Rivera said.

Christmas City scored three runs in the first inning on a double by Parry and singles by Margot Beck and Kali Concilio.

The home team then tallied six runs in the third inning on six consecutive hits, including triples by Parry and Beck.     

“Roslyn is the only three-year veteran,” said Coach Carlo. “She really loves the game. I knew she was gonna be the leader. How some people say “In God we trust,” we say “In Roz we trust.” She’s a two-way player.

[Parry and Rivera] were the same battery for the team last year, which was nice to have that year of experience.”

Christmas City advances to the eight-team state tournament, scheduled to begin on July 14 in Williamsport.
