SP Sr. Connie Mack rolls past Emmaus

The South Parkland Senior Connie Mack baseball team went 1-1 in a pair of Lehigh Valley League games last week.

The Trojans beat Emmaus 17-2 last Monday, June 15, before falling to East Stroudsburg 12-7 two days later.

The Trojans took down Emmaus in three innings, scoring five runs in the first inning, four in the second and eight in the bottom of the third inning to earn the victory via the 15-run rule.

Eight South Parkland batters had one hit or more in the game, with Jason Brubacher (2-for-3, 2 RBI) leading the way at the plate. Jack Cambell and Brooks Wetherhold each had one hit and scored three times in the game. Liam Gerhart and Andrew Berrigan had one hit apiece and each knocked in a pair of runs. Berrigan also walked twice and scored twice. Andrew Markowitz (1-for-1, 2 runs), Caleb Ferrick (1-for-2, run, RBI) and Asher Huber (1-for-1, 2 runs).

Dylan Mitchell pitched all three innings and allowed four hits and two runs while striking out six Hornets and walking one.

In the loss to East Stroudsburg, the teams combined for 12 errors with SP committing seven and the Cavaliers making five.

Mitchell (2-for-3, RBI, run) and Wetherhold (2-for-3, 2 RBI, run) led the Trojan offense in the loss.

South Parkland entered this week at 7-6 in league play and in ninth place in the 20-team Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack standings.

Southern Lehigh (12-0) leads the league with Forks Township (8-2), Northampton (8-2-1), East Stroudsburg (9-3) and North Parkland (9-3) rounding out the top five.
