NP Connie Mack continues win streak
The North Parkland Senior Connie Mack baseball team has continued its surge, especially in the month of June, as it won three more games last week to extend its win streak to six games in a row and headed into this week at 6-1 this month so far.
The Buffaloes held on to defeat Northern Lehigh 10-9 last Friday night and then downed Northern Valley the next day 17-13. This past Monday night, North Parkland took down Silver Creek 7-3.
In the win over NL, North Parkland scored a run in its first at-bats to go up 1-0 before the visitors tied it in the top of the second with a run. The Buffs then took the lead 2-1 in the top of the fourth before the Buffaloes put together a six-run bottom half.
Northern Lehigh chipped away with back-to-back two-run innings in the fifth and sixth to pull to within 7-6 and then they took the lead back with a three-run seventh to go on top by two. NP walked it off with three runs in the bottom of the frame on a Jakobe Jimenez game-winning single.
Joe Kelly led the lineup going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Jimenz finished with two hits and two RBIs and both Zachary Seyler and Tyler Dietrich tallied two hits, with Dietrich adding two RBIs and Seyler one. Callen Wilson had one hit and scored two runs and was the winner of record, getting the final two outs of the top of the seventh inning.
It was a big comeback win over Northern Valley as the Chargers scored eight runs in the top of the first and then added another in the second to take a 9-0 advantage.
North Parkland rallied with a seven-run second and took its first lead with three runs in the fourth. NV grabbed the lead back with a three-run inning in the fifth to go on top 12-10, but the hosts scored seven runs the next two innings to be able to take the game.
Jimenez and Walter Merkel both finished with three hits and scored three runs with the latter contributing four RBIs. Collin Smith recorded two hits and four RBIs. Royce Morabito, Quentin Velez and Aiden Gonzalez all had a hit and Kelly added two RBIs. Mason Vargas earned the victory, throwing four innings, allowing three runs and striking out two.
North Parkland led from start to finish against Silver Creek, scoring three times in the second and adding two in the third. Nolan Kishbaugh and Dietrich both ended with two hits and Kishbaugh had three RBIs. Kelly, Velez, Vargas and Merkel all added a hit. Velez got the start on the mound and earned the victory, throwing five innings, striking out three.
North Parkland improved to 9-3 last week.
