Nonnemaker Farm’s celebrates July 4 with the ringing of an old school bell

The historic bell at Nonnemaker Farm rang five times on Independence Day as members of the Nonnemaker family and descendants—JoAnn Nonnemaker-Markowicz, Nate Markovicz, David Nonnemaker, Timmy Nonnemaker and Gabriel Nonnemaker—each took one turn ringing the bell.

Nate Markovicz said the five rings symbolized the five 50-year periods of America’s 250-year history.

Behind them, the barn was decorated with 250 stars commemorating the nation’s semiquincentennial.

David Nonnemaker participated in place of his father.
