Attendees enjoy Community Day
On May 29, North Catasauqua Police Association hosted the fifth annual North Catasauqua Community Day at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St. The event highlighted several emergency services, law enforcement and other government agencies and included nonprofit vendors, police dog and CPR demonstrations, crafts, food, live music, bounce houses, obstacle courses, henna and face painting, a basket raffle and chalk art.
This year’s event was the second Community Day organized by Samuel Safadi, North Catasauqua police officer and volunteer firefighter with Catasauqua and North Catasauqua.
“The goal of the event is to bring the community together (and to) let them meet their local first responders. They also have the opportunity to ask questions to numerous agencies from the local level to the state level, as well as giving people the opportunity to sell crafts and build business relationships with other vendors,” Safadi said.
He said money raised from the event goes to charity donations for families in need and to provide the activities and giveaways for children for next year’s event.
Donations for the event came from the Northampton County Hotel Tax Grant, J.P. Mascaro and Sons, Daku’s Auto Body, Mosaic Home and Garden, Servpro, the borough recreation and betterment committees and other local businesses and community members.
