Allen/East Allen townships: Tickets for casino trip are available

Lappawinzo Fish and Game Association, 25 Lappawinzo Road, Allen Township, is organizing a trip to Mohegan Sun Casino for a combo gambling and racing harness excursion July 19.

The group will leave by 1 p.m. and will return between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. The track start is 5 p.m.

There is a cost.

Governor Wolf Historical Society, 6600 Jacksonville Road, East Allen Township, welcomes everyone to join its craft gatherings, held 10 a.m.-noon the first and third Thursdays in the meeting room of the Monocacy School on the GWHS campus. Bring your project, supplies, a drink and snack.

A $5 donation is requested to defray facility costs.

No registration is required.

Governor Wolf Historical Society offers free tours of its three historic buildings, the grounds and the new museum 1-3 p.m. the third Saturday of each month from April through November. The next free tour day is July 18.

The 11th annual Northampton Area School District Student Council car show will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 25 at Bicentennial Park West in East Allen Township. The rain date is July 26.

Lappawinzo Fish and Game Association will not be hosting breakfast during the months of July and August. Breakfast will resume Sept. 20.

Did you know the Kreidersville Covered Bridge, located at 1-99 Covered Bridge Road, was built in 1839 and is the last remaining covered bridge in Northampton County? It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Attendees at the Kreidersville Covered Bridge festival dance to the music of Brake for Turtles during a June 6 and 7 event at 100 Covered Bridge Road, Allen Township. Festivities supported the upkeep of the last covered bridge remaining in Northampton County.
Touring the Kreidersville Covered Bridge in style, riders are treated to free hay wagon rides pulled by a vintage Farmall tractor operated by Andrew Knauss, of Northampton. The historic bridge was built in approximately 1839 over the Hokendauqua Creek.
Brake for Turtles, a Lehigh Valley band, provides a mix of classic rock, soul and country to entertain the audience.

Jerry Brozman and his son Ethan, of Nazareth, enjoy the abundance of food available at the festival, which included an old-fashioned pig roast.
