The organization Leo’s League Pediatric Cancer Fund recently held a fundraising event on the grounds of the Schnecksville Fire Company.
Leo Kushnir is a 7-year-old who has survived stage 5 Wilms tumors.
Wilms tumors are the most common childhood cancer and affect one or both kidneys. The survival rate exceeds 90%.
Leo was diagnosed and treated by the Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
The stated mission of the Leo’s League is “to help relieve the stress of families battling pediatric cancer and allow them to concentrate on treatment and their loved one by providing support, advocacy, and financial assistance.”
The organization wants to help others who have children suffering from cancer with support, help with finances and understanding as they have been in their shoes.
