When Ben was young, one of his go-to gifts was a little handmade booklet of coupons — ideal for someone on a tight budget. I loved receiving them but rarely redeemed them. As I cleaned out a drawer recently, I ran across one of them. The coupons included “1 little favor,” “1 free bubble therapy when you buy 1” (not sure how much a bubble therapy costs), and my favorite, “1 free hug — must be happy first.” I’m hoping it’s not too late to redeem a few!

The copy deadline for the Aug. 5 column will be July 30.
