LHS, FHS earn wins

Liberty and Freedom each picked up important victories last week to improve their positions in the Lehigh Valley Summer League standings.

Liberty defeated Allen, 50-42, behind a team-high 15 points from Dylan Bilger. The Hurricanes improved to 5-4 and remain tied for fifth place with Central Catholic and Emmaus, keeping themselves in the middle of a tightly contested playoff race.

Freedom also came away with a quality win, knocking off Central Catholic, 59-52. Gabe Reed led the Patriots with 19 points as Freedom earned its second victory of the season. The Patriots are now tied for 13th place with East Stroudsburg North and Quakertown at 2-7.

Elsewhere in the Big School Division, Executive Education remained tied with Parkland atop the standings at 8-1 after edging Dallas, 57-52, in overtime. Parkland defeated Quakertown 60-31, while Easton rolled past East Stroudsburg North 70-34.

In the Small School Division, Southern Lehigh stayed unbeaten at 9-0 with a 56-45 win over Salisbury. Northwestern and LV Academy also remained in contention with victories, while Northern Lehigh defeated Catasauqua, 49-20.
