John David Wagner
John David “J.D.” Wagner, 76, of Emmaus, died peacefully June 20, 2026, following a courageous battle with diabetes and dementia.
Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Ora Lou Wagner and Billy N. Wagner Sr.
He was a lifelong resident of Emmaus and a graduate of Emmaus High School, Class of 1968.
After high school, he attended the University of North Alabama before serving in the United States Army. During his military career of 20 years, he served in Germany and Korea. After retiring from military service, he worked for many years with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry’s Unemployment Compensation program.
He was known for his kindness, gentle nature, generosity and unwavering devotion to family. In later years, he cared for his mother during her declining health, reflecting the compassion and selflessness that defined his character.
He enjoyed bowling and golf and treasured the friendships he made throughout his life.
He is survived by his sister, Theresa Dellinger and her children, Lindsay Stoner (Sol) and Cody Dellinger; his brother, Billy N. Jr. (Suzanne), and his children, Jon Edward (Kelly) and Tammy Rigsby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Florence and David and Nellie Beadle.
He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Emmaus.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the health care professionals at St. Luke’s Hospital who cared for him during his final illness.
Memorial contribution may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. July 1 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. A calling period will be held 10:30-11 a.m. in the church.
