Coplay Public Library: Celebrate country’s anniversary during storytime

Storytime is planned for July 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Coplay Public Library. The theme of the July 3 program will be a celebration of our country’s 250th anniversary.

Registration is not required.

Registration is ongoing for the 2026 summer reading program — Unearth a Story. Register on the library’s website, coplaypl.org, or at the library.

You will receive a welcome pack with the program details when you bring a completed registration form to the library. Special programs are planned for both children and adults who take part.

Earn tickets toward gift baskets by logging your reading, participating in activities and attending programs.

There will also be a special program for adults who would like help with their family history research using Ancestry.

Additionally, summer reading will feature an adult and family passport program. This program encourages adult patrons and families to visit other LCLC libraries. You can win a special passport basket at our library.

If you visit six libraries, you will be entered into a grand-prize drawing for an iPad!

Christina’s Reptiles will present a special program noon July 25 as part of the summer reading program. Registration is required.

4-H will visit the library 11 a.m.-noon Aug. 5.

Space is limited, so registration is required. You must be participating our summer reading program to sign up.

We will be showing “Dinosaur Train” movies 11 a.m. Saturdays as part of the summer reading program.

Bring your own snacks.

The library is collecting food and toiletry items for the Snack Pack Pals program. These items are sent home over long weekends with students in grades K-12 who have severe hunger needs.

We are collecting donations until the end of July. Place donations in the box located in the inside entrance to the library.

Join our Fabric Arts and Friends group meeting 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays. Learn to crochet, work on a current needle work project or just get advice from our more experienced crafters. We have extra yarn and knitting/crochet needles for you to use if needed.

Stop by for the teen/adult coloring group 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Registration is not required.

The library board is seeking new board members. If interested, submit a letter of interest to Coplay Borough Hall, attn: borough council, 98 S. Fourth St., 18037.

It’s never too early to start reading to your child. Sign your child up for the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

Read any book to your newborn, infant and/or toddler. Keep track of the titles of the books on our convenient reading log sheets or any other method you choose. When patrons reach 50, and then for each 100 books, they will get an award.

There is no time limit to the program, and more than one child can participate.

Need ideas for a summer vacation or adventure? Stop in the library and browse our selection of up-to-date brochures for Pennsylvania and other northeastern and mid-Atlantic states.

Add some items to your summer to-be-read list by shopping at the library. Check out our selection of fiction and nonfiction books for sale. We also have CDs, DVDs and puzzles.

Look for them on the shelves under the circulation desk and on the sale cart. Ask if you need assistance.

The library is accepting donations of books, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records and puzzles. See the donations policy on the website or call the library.

For your safety, drop donations off at the circulation desk during open hours. Do not leave donations at the front door.

If you need to use a computer to search for information or print something, we have six computers for you to use. The library also has a fax machine and copier for public use. You just need to show your library card at the front desk when you come into the library.

If you do not have a library card, it only takes a few minutes to get one. All you need is a form of ID, like a driver’s license. Library cards are free and may be used at 12 libraries in Lehigh and Carbon counties.

The library’s summer hours officially started June 15. It will be open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays-Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
