Catasauqua: St. Mary’s to hold annual block party

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 122 Union St., will hold a block party 6-9 p.m. June 25 and 26 and 5-9 p.m. June 27.

There will be delicious homemade foods and games for all ages. There will be deejays Thursday and Friday and music by Sons of Izzy Saturday.

The summer concert series will have GirlCrue perform 7-10 p.m. June 26 at the Catasauqua Park and Playground amphitheater, 501 American St.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, and settle in for a fun, musical night in the park.

Whitehall Active Community Center, 2301 Pine St., will be holding bingo June 28. Doors open noon, and cash bingo starts 1 p.m.

Bingo will continue with tricky tray, 50/25/25 raffle, piggy number, lightning game, etc. There will be refreshments available for purchase.

Bring a donation of a nonperishable food item, pet food or paper product, such as facial tissues, paper towels or toilet paper, for Whitehall Food Pantry and receive a strip of specials to be played on the first four specials.

Catasauqua Garden Club next meets July 1. This month’s topic is a workshop on the art of kokedama, a moss ball hanging planter popular in Japan to create garden beauty in a small space. This month’s facilitator is club President Carol Pierce.

The meeting is at Slovak Center Social Club, 1233 Fifth St., North Catasauqua. The doors open 12:30 p.m., and the meeting begins promptly 1 p.m.

Workshop materials will be provided. Members attend for free, and there is a small cost for visitors.

The next meeting of the J4 Committee will be held 6:30 p.m. July 1 at Catasauqua Park and Playground. The meeting will be held rain or shine.

All interested are urged and welcome to attend.

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., will celebrate Christmas in July from July 2 to July 31.

The thrift shop staff is happy to accept donations of clean, used clothing, household items and toys during regular store hours. The shop is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.
