Josephine S. Boyer

of Allentown

Josephine S. “Josie” Boyer, 87, of Allentown, died June 4, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Stella (Gurreri) and Anthony Spagnolo.

As a young woman, she worked in her father’s store where she became known for keeping the stockroom meticulously organized. She later worked in fine shoe stores and developed a lifelong appreciation for fashion. Much of her career was spent in women’s retail where she enjoyed creating mannequin displays and helping customers find confidence through fashion and self-expression. She had a remarkable eye for design and detail.

She built a life for herself and her family through hard work, determination and resourcefulness.

She was a devoted member of the Allentown Garden Club, participated in activities at the Jewish Community Center and volunteered her time at Allentown Symphony Hall. In her younger years, she was an accomplished bowler who earned many trophies. She also enjoyed travel, crafting and had a deep appreciation for the arts.

She is survived by her son, Antonio, of Macungie; her daughter, Kimberly Brittenburg, of Allentown; grandchildren, Kaz, of Lewisburg, Karissa, of Allentown.

Services will be held 3 p.m. July 11 at Heintzelman — Stephens Funeral Home, P. C., 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown. A visitation will be held 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society or the Allentown Garden Club, all causes that were especially close to her heart.
