Whitehall Township Public Library: Sign up for summer programs

The summer reading program — Unearth a Story — begins June 13. All ages can participate in our reading incentive program. Sign up, track your reading and earn great prizes!

Join us for our summer reading kickoff with Wildlands Conservancy. All are welcome 1 p.m. June 13 to meet and learn about local animals.

Youth in grades K-4 can make a dinosaur stencil bag 1:30 p.m. June 16.

Registration is required.

Creation Station: Worm Farms will be held 6 p.m. June 17. Kids in grades 3-6 can learn about worms.

Registration is required.

Search the library for dinosaur eggs doing a scavenger hunt 1:30 p.m. June 18. This event is for grades 3-5, and registration is required.

Old Time True Crime is planned for 6:30 p.m. June 18. Ellen Flynn returns to share local true crime cases from the 1800s and early 1900s. Hear the stories and examine the evidence of real cases from around the Lehigh Valley.

Registration is requested.

Saturday storytime is set for 11 a.m. June 20 for ages 3-8.

The Insects, Fossils and Secrets Beneath Our Feet program, presented by Lehigh Valley Conservation District, is set for 3 p.m. June 23.

This program is for curious elementary-aged students up to sixth grade. Dig for insects under rocks and rotted logs, and make a take-home fossil.

Registration is required.

Paleontologists Mike and Roberta Straka will present their Dinosaur Adventure Show 6 p.m. June 23. Audience members will help dig up a real triceratops bone and help construct a dinosaur out of a large cutout.

The dinosaur dig portion of the program is for children only and is limited to the first 60 kids.

The library book sale is set for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 26 and 27.

There will be a bag sale noon-3 p.m. June 27. Patrons must use the paper grocery bags provided for the bag sale.

The library is accepting lightly used books, DVDs, CDs, puzzles and games. They can accept three bags or boxes at a time. Donations are generally kept in their original bags and boxes, so please transport them in bags and boxes you do not want back.

The library has many clubs that meet monthly.

The adult book club meets 1 p.m. the first Thursday of each month. Come discuss what you’re currently reading.

The adult coloring club meets 11 a.m. the first and third Thursdays.

A Good Yarn will meet 6 p.m. the third Tuesday for knitters, crocheters or other needle crafters.

The Teen Advisory Board meets 1:30 p.m. one Saturday a month for teens interested in volunteering at the library.

The library is open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Renovations are still ongoing as they work to make the library more accessible. Staff will try to keep the building open as much as possible, but there may be some schedule changes if necessary.
