James P. Kuhns, 89, of Lower Macungie Township, died in his home May 29, 2026. He was the husband to Carol (Leake), for 63 years.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Paul and Margaret (Yurick) Kuhns.

He graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School, Class of 1955 and retired from HCSC.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed teaching guitar lessons and playing in a band.

He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, James and his wife, Nikki, of Slatington; daughter, Christine, of Macungie; grandsons, Dalton, Justin and Dawson; great-grandsons, Aiden and Finley; great-granddaughters, Madison, Suzette, Stella and Charlie; brother-in-law, James Leake (Linda Dworchak).

He was predeceased by his brother, John “Jack”; sister, Eleanor; granddaughter, Amanda Wicklein.

The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude for the wonderful dedicated care received from the staff at Honor, Loving Nurses, and L.V. Hospice.
