4-H honors Bethlehem resident
Bethlehem resident Peter Nebzyodski of Northampton County has been named Pennsylvania 4-H Volunteer of the Year by Penn State Extension.
Nebzyodski was recognized for his work over the past five years creating educational opportunities for youth, including launching a new 4-H club in an urban area of Bethlehem that previously lacked one. He also organizes programming, guest speakers and field trips, while encouraging members to participate in regional and state events.
“His consistent dedication and willingness to share his knowledge and passion for the 4-H program are empowering and have made a lasting impact on Northampton County 4-H,” said Amy Hofmann, 4-H youth development extension educator.
Also honored was Denise Ancharski-Stutler of Bucks County, who received the Outstanding Lifetime Volunteer Award for more than 25 years of service to 4-H.
Administered by Penn State Extension, 4-H is a youth development program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Residents earn U of Scranton degrees
Bethlehem area residents were among the newest Scranton alumni receiving their degrees on Sunday, May 24, at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza, Wilkes-Barre Township. Graduates must have completed their academic degree requirements in August and December of 2025, as well as January and May of 2026.
Jude Chichester earned a bachelor of science degree in physiology.
Ana Garippa earned a bachelor of science degree in biology.
John M. Labiak earned a doctor of nursing practice degree in nurse anesthesia.
Madison D. Langkamer earned a doctor ofpPhysical therapy degree in physical therapy.
Katrina J. Beaver earned a master of accountancy degree in accountancy.
Amy L. Gold earned a master of science degree in applied behavior analysis.
Cody Szabo earned a master of science degree in finance.
Local residents receive Cedar Crest degrees
On Saturday, May 9, Cedar Crest College honored the Class of 2026 during its 156th Commencement Ceremony at PPL Center in Allentown, Pa.

Roman named to Radford Dean’s List
Alaina Roman from Bethlehem, PA, has been named to the Spring 2026 Dean’s List at Radford University.
Appearing on the dean’s list is the most prestigious academic recognition Radford University students can receive for their performance during a semester.
Students are placed on the dean’s list if they meet four specific criteria. They must have 12 semester hours of coursework graded A-F; earn GPA’s of at least 3.4 for all courses not graded on a pass-fail basis; obtain no grade lower than “C”; and receive no incomplete grades.

FOUNTAIN HILL: Miguel A. Diaz-Rivera, of Fountain Hill, was named to the Spring 2026 Dean’s List at Kutztown University.
A total of 2,098 students were named to the Spring 2026 Dean’s List at Kutztown University. To qualify, undergraduate students must complete at least 12 credits and earn a minimum grade-point average of 3.60.
Basara participates in research project
Mason Basara, a member of the class of 2027 majoring in Mechanical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), was a member of a student team that recently completed a professional-level research-driven project titled “From Manual to Automatic: Improving Student Reporting.”
Residents among Millersville graduates
Severqal Bethlehem residents were among the nearly 1,200 undergraduate and graduate students participated in May 9 commencement exercises at Millersville University.
Marlon Boone graduated with a master of social work.
Isaiah Armand graduated with a bachelor of science in sport administration.
Devianna Kalman graduated with a bachelor of science in biology, animal behavior.
Grace Shemanski graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor of science in education in social studies.

Jenkins named to Splippery Ruck Dean’s List
Bethlehem native Paige Jenkins was named to Slippery Rock University’s dean’s list for the Spring 2026 semester. The dean’s list consists of SRU undergraduate students who earned an adjusted semester grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, based on a schedule of at least 12 newly attempted and earned credits.
Meneely named Clarkson Presidential Scholar
Caroline Meneely of Bethlehem, a sophomore majoring in financial information and analysis, was named a Presidential Scholar for the Spring 2026 semester at Clarkson University. Presidential Scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 grade-point average and carry at least 14 credit hours.
