Churches plan for summer

Union Lutheran church, Schnecksville, will present Vacation Bible School June 14-18 for children ages 3-12.

The theme is Rain Forest Falls: Exploring the Nature of God.

Family dinner will be available at 5 p.m. and VBS activities run 5:45-8 p.m.

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1415 Rising Sun Road, Laurys Station, welcomes children ages 4 and up through seventh grade to Vacation Bible School 6-8 p.m. July 6-10.

The theme is Bible Science.

Everyone is welcome to come and bring a friend.

Preregistration is preferred to ensure enough materials are ready for all who come.

Children will have fun with projects, songs and stories.

On July 12, VBS Sunday, children will share some of their music with the congregation at the morning worship service.

DeSales University will present “Shakespeare in the Grove” at Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, 6:30 p.m. June 12.

The Vince’s Cheesesteak Food Truck will be on hand at the grove 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Union UCCC’s last 8 a.m. service for the season will take place on June 7 and will resume on Sept. 13.

The Upper Lehigh Lions Club holds fundraisers throughout the year to benefit organizations in the community and beyond.

Recently the club presented a check for $3,000 to Sights for Hope.

Lions President Erin Heitzelman stated, “I am reminded of how much energy and generosity fills our club each and every month. Thank you for continuing to show up, serve and support our community in meaningful ways.”

Sights for Hope is an organization which helps people succeed “no matter how they see the world.”

The group provides skill training for people with limited or no vision expand their access to essential services and helps them obtain assistive devices for independence.

Sights for Hope aims to present vision loss by promoting healthy eye habits for prekindergarten children.

Free or low cost eye exams and glasses are provided for children in need.
