You may be thinking you remember this powerful “Never Forget” display and yes, it first appeared two years ago to commemorate Memorial Day 2024 through the 80th anniversary of D-day on June 6 of that year.
Artist Phil Rossetto decided it was more than appropriate to bring it back to his Route 100, Lowhill Township, roadside display during this 250th celebration of America’s freedom.
To him, this soldier’s powerful facial image easily represents all the men and women who have served and fought to bring about and maintain the glorious freedom enjoyed by all Americans from our excruciating 8 year war for Independence from Great Britain through each and every day of our proud American history to today’s conflicts.
Yes, hair styles and military fatigues have changed many, many times since the farmers, shopkeepers, statesmen and trades people took up arms 250 years ago.
However, the passion of each and every American to remain free has not.
Phil decided to retain in the display the images from throughout these last 250 years, including a later period Old Glory as well as the two identical flanking flags known as service flags announcing the families who had members in the military during WWII.
As Phil expressed two years ago, “This is the face of the soldier who has witnessed it all, yet proudly represents the greatest measure to the oath taken of their allegiance to their country. This officer represents every known and unknown soldier who gave their life for their country during all these war weary years.”
