James M. Holben Jr. (“Jim”), of Allentown, 91, died May 19, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James M. Holben Sr. and Evelyn (Kepner) Holben. Growing up in Neffs, he graduated in 1953 from Parkland High School, then attended Muhlenberg College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1957.

Upon graduation, he served two years in the U.S. Army (military intelligence). He then worked until retirement as an insurance and benefits consultant.

He was active in the community as a member of the Parkland Art League for many years and a Boy Scout leader while his sons were young. He also hiked the Appalachian Trail, completing the entire route.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita (Tallick) Holben; sons, Col. Gary J., U.S. Army (Ret.) and wife, Marla, The Rev. Brian R. and wife, Diane; grandsons, Andrew W. and wife, Alex, Michael J. and husband, Matt, Christopher G. and wife, Leah, Gregory V. and wife, Liz; great-grandchildren, Elena, James, Lincoln, Oliver.

He was predeceased by a son, James G.
