Freedom’s ride in the District 11 3A volleyball came to an end last week.
The Pates lost to Emmaus for a second time this season, this time coming in an Emmaus victory in four games during the district semifinals--25-22, 25-17, 23-25 and 29-27.
After winning their first 16 matches of the season, the Pates stumbled towards the end of the year, losing to Emmaus in four games at the end of April, then falling to Parkland in the EPC tournament, before ultimately ending their season against the Hornets to finish with an 18-3 mark.
Emmaus advanced to the D11 finals with the win and took on Whitehall, who upset top seeded Parkland in last week’s semifinals.
The results of that contest were past Press deadlines, as they played on Tuesday night.
In 2A, Bethlehem Catholic entered districts with a 2-18 record and didn’t have enough ammunition to knock off top seeded Southern Lehigh, as the Spartans swept the Hawks to advance to the D11 championship.
They took on Notre Dame Green Pond in Tuesday’s finale as well.
