Younker scores four goals vs. SL

The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team played three nonleague games last week and won two of them.

The Hornets first defeated Moravian Academy 6-5 game last Tuesday, April 21. Two days later, Emmaus suffered a 14-8 setback to Southern Lehigh. The Hornets bounced back with a 13-9 at Governor Mifflin on Saturday.

In the win against the Lions, Greyson Schmidt netted the game-winning goal with just seven seconds left on the clock to break a 5-5 tie and send his team to the regulation win.

It was the third goal for Schmidt on the night. Alex Younker finished with two goals and an assist and Sam Pechulis rounded out the scoring with a goal. Jace Pilarski, Colin Garrett and Dylan Maloney each dished out an assist.

Liam Lewis made 13 saves in net for the win.

In the game with the Spartans, SL took control in the third quarter, outscoring Emmaus 7-3 to extend a 6-3 halftime lead to 13-6. Younker led the attack with four goals and both Schmidt and Anthony Attar had a goal and two assist. Garrett and Max Weber scored a goal each, while also combining to win 16 of the 27 faceoffs. Lewis made 11 saves.

In the victory over the Mustangs, Younker once again paced the attack with four goals. Schmidt recorded a hat trick and both Attar and

Maloney tallied two goals and combined for four assists. Garrett and Reiken Bechtel each found the back of the net once. Attar dished out three assists and Weber and Garrett added two. Lewis finished with six saves in net for the win.

Emmaus improved 9-7 overall and is 6-2 in the East Penn Conference with one league game remaining, Thursday at Parkland.

The Hornets have clinched a district playoff spot and are battling for position for the league playoffs. Easton (13-1 overall, 7-0 EPC) leads the league with Central Catholic (9-4, 5-1) and Emmaus (9-7, 6-2) in second and third place, respectively. Parkland (10-5, 5-2) is in fourth place but still must face the Hornets and Central Catholic in the final week of the season.
