Trojans edge EHS in regular season finale
The Emmaus High School boys lacrosse team went 1-1 last week in the final week of the regular season.
The Hornets won a nonconference game in the home finale and then fell in their Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and season finale.
The Hornets began the week by defeating Saucon Valley 11-7 last Tuesday, April 28. Two nights later, they dropped a one-goal game to rival Parkland, 10-9 last Thursday, that solidified the four seed in the EPC tournament this week.
A victory there would have given them the three seed and Trojans the four.
Against the Trojans, the Hornets held a 3-1 lead to start the first quarter, but the Trojans closed the frame with two goals and then outscored EHS 5-1 in the second to take an 8-4 lead at halftime.
The Emmaus defense held Parkland scoreless in the third quarter while the attack found the back of the net twice, and then they outscored them 3-2 in the fourth, but just could not get all the way back.
Anthony Attar and Alex Younker both recorded hat tricks. Greyson Schmidt added a pair of goals and an assist, and Sam Pechulis finished with a goal and two assists. In goal, Liam Lewis allowed just two goals after halftime and finished with 12 saves. Colin Garrett won 11 of 16 faceoffs, while Max Weber won three of five.
Stats from the game with the Panthers were not made available at the time of print.
Emmaus concluded the regular season with a 10-8 overall record and 6-3 mark in the conference.
The Hornets are the four seed and will take on the top seed, Easton, in the EPC semifinal round Wednesday night at Northampton High School’s Al Erdosy Stadium.
