Northwestern boys lax tops Kids, fall to MA

The Northwestern boys lacrosse team split a pair of games last week.

The season is beginning to wind down and while the Tigers have captured a spot in districts, there is still positioning to figure out. Northwestern is currently seeded second in the 2A classification but has Southern Lehigh and Moravian Academy breathing down their necks to get a higher seed.

The Lions were one of last week’s opponents and delivered an overtime loss to Northwestern.

Tyler Kaas had two four-goal games last week, but Moravian Academy got one when it needed it in the overtime period to lock up a 10-9 win.

Braydon Uricchio also had a nice week as he scored five goals and had four assists with two of the goals coming against Moravian Academy. Kendall Wikert scored twice and Trey Snyder scored a goal in the loss.

The loss came on the heels of a 12-5 win over Northampton. The win was the second win of the season over the Konkrete Kids as Northwestern opened its schedule with a 9-8 win at Northampton.

Dane Kauker made seven saves in goal against Northampton. Offensively, Grayson Christman, Kaas, and Uricchio all had hat tricks in the game. Christman led the way with five goals, Kaas had four goals and two assists, and Uricchio added three goals and four assists. Snyder and Logan Uricchio both added a pair of assists.

Northwestern’s scoring is led by a pair of juniors. Kaas has 65 points (51 goals, 14 assists) to lead the team in points and goals. Classmate Braydon Uricchio has 52 points (30 goals, 22 assists) to rank second on the team in points. The sophomore class is represented by Wikert, who has 37 goals and 11 assists, and is followed in the points battle by Christman who has 35 points with 33 goals and two assists. Freshman Trey Snyder is fifth in scoring with 10 goals and 23 assists.

The Tigers (10-6) wrap up their regular season schedule with two home games. Saucon Valley (4-12) and Moravian Academy (9-6) both are scheduled for games at Tigers Stadium this week to end the season.
