Jennifer Cierech next principal of Calypso ES
The Bethlehem Area School District is pleased to announce, pending school board approval, the appointment of Jennifer Cierech as the next principal of Calypso ES.
Cierech is a longtime Bethlehem Area School District educator with more than 20 years of experience serving students and families across the district. She has built her career in BASD schools, beginning as a Spanish teacher and steadily advancing into school leadership roles through a commitment to instructional excellence and community engagement.
Cierech has served as Spanish teacher at both the elementary and secondary levels, Spanish K–5 Program Lead, and currently as Assistant Principal at Broughal MS. She recently served as Interim Principal at Calypso, where she helped foster a school climate focused on student success and strong relationships with students, staff and families
“I am honored to serve the Calypso elementary community in this new role,” said Cierech. “Having grown within BASD as both a teacher and leader, I am strongly committed to supporting students, empowering staff and building strong partnerships with families and the community to ensure every child thrives.”

Cierech holds a master’s in educational leadership and a master’s in curriculum and instruction from Moravian University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in education (Spanish K–12) from Shippensburg University. She also holds certifications in Student Assistance Program and Restorative Practices.
