Baked into Bethlehem Baking Challenge Historic Bethlehem hosts competition finals

Sweet surprises take center stage as some of the region’s most talented home bakers and the public come together for the Baked into Bethlehem Baking Challenge finals on Saturday, May 30, at 2 p.m. Tickets for the event, which takes place at the Luckenbach Mill, 459 Old York Road, are on sale now for only $5 at historicbethlehem.org.

At the Baked into Bethlehem Baking Challenge finals, 10 bakers from throughout the region will showcase their showstopper desserts in front of a live audience. Each dessert will be judged by a panel of local baking professionals, including Richard Groman Jr. of the Groman’s Bakery family and Bethany Carrigan from King Arthur Baking Co. The public will be able to speak with the bakers, hear the origins of their recipes and sample all of the desserts. In addition, Carrigan will answer their most challenging baking questions during a special Q&A session.

Baking Challenge finalists are:

Michele Bernardich, Whitehall

Michael Brolly, Bethlehem

Hannah Hoch, Nazareth

Sarah Keppel, Easton

Ryan Lichty, Bethlehem

Patty Morgenstern, Bangor

Amita Pallod, Breinigsville

Judith Sabino, Coopersburg

Allison Shook, Bethlehem

Alyssa Wolfe, Quakertown

Baking Challenge finalists were selected from entries submitted during the first round of the competition at Historic Bethlehem Community Heritage Day on April 18. All of their desserts will be judged based on taste and flavor, technique and execution, dessert presentation and the story they share with the audience; culinary and baking-related prizes will be presented to the top three finishers.

Tickets for the Baking Challenge are $5 for ages 13 and older and free for ages 12 and under. Tickets include admission that day to the Baked into Bethlehem exhibition at Moravian Museum and Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts.
