Buckcherry to “Roar” into Archer Music Hall

Buckcherry, an American rock band from Los Angeles, Calif., returns to the Lehigh Valley for a May 19 concert at Archer Music Hall in center city Allentown.

The lineup for Buckcherry includes vocalist Josh Todd, guitarist Stevie D. (Dacanay), guitarist Billy Rowe, bassist Kelly LeMieux and drummer Francis Ruiz.

Buckcherry, formed in 1995, has released 11 albums, including “Buckcherry” (1999), “Time Bomb” (2001), “15” (2006), “Black Butterfly” (2008), “All Night Long” (2010), “Confessions” (2013), “Rock ‘n’ Roll” (2015), “Warpaint” (2019), “Hellbound” (2021), “Vol. 10” (2023) and “Roar Like Thunder” (2025).

Buckcherry’s acclaimed platinum album, “15,” contained its biggest rock hit, “Crazy Bitch,” as well as Buckcherry’s Top 10 hit, “Sorry.”

“15” went on to spend an impressive 98 weeks on Billboard’s Top 200. The band’s follow-up, “Black Butterfly,” debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard chart and became a No. 1 rock album.

“We were originally called Sparrow. But later we changed the name to Buckcherry,” says Josh Todd in an interview from Georgia, where the band was playing a concert.

“There was this transvestite that would come to the shows named Buck Cherry. Then we kept hearing the name Chuck Berry. And we came up with Buckcherry through a spoonerism. So we seemed to be destined to have that name for our band.

“I had never planned on doing music for a living. I had planned on being a professional surfer.

“There were many singers on my Dad’s side of the family. My Dad played guitar and sang. He actually went over to Vietnam during wartime to entertain the troops.

“I was about 15 when I was asked by some friends to sing for their band. I said, ‘Sure.’

“Growing up, my musical influences were AC/DC, Aerosmith, Prince, Slipknot and Stevie Wonder.

“I was around 16 when I first started writing lyrics and music. I have a knack for writing lyrics and have always enjoyed writing poetry.

“In our group, I write all the lyrics and melodies. Most of the lyrics are based on my own life experience.

“For instance, the song ‘Sorry’ was written for my wife. It is hard to keep a marriage going when having this kind of lifestyle.

“I like my songs to bring out raw emotions rather than just musical technicality. We then bash it all out together as a band. We like relatable, straight ahead rock ‘n’ roll” songs.

“At our upcoming show, we will be doing all of our hits along with our new songs,” Todd says.
