Joseph Szapacs, Jr., 87, of Slatington, died May 7, 2026, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Patricia J. (Phillips) Szapacs. Born in Slatington, he was the son of the late Joseph Szapacs Sr. and Ann E. (Jones) Szapacs.
He was employed as a truck driver at Horwith Trucks, Inc. in Northampton for 50 years before retiring in 2018. Before that, he worked as an electrician as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for many years. He was a member of the Big 6 Hunting Club, the Grundsau Lodsch #18 in Emerald and Union United Church of Christ, Neffs. He was a former Trustee of the Emerald Fire Co.
He is survived by children, Rickey F. (Dianne), of Northampton, Susan J. Schaffer (Timothy), of Slatington; sister, Janice Stackhouse (Karl), of Nazareth; brother, Ronald (Lois), of Emerald; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. May 14, at Union U.C.C., 5550 Route 873, Neffs, with the Rev. Kris P. Snyder officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects 12:30-2 p.m. before the service.
