Evan G. Saltzer

formerly of Orefield

Evan G. Saltzer, 90, formerly of Orefield, died May 4, 2026, at Country Meadows of Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Hannah B. (Wagner) Saltzer. Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Livingston Lebo and Dora Alice (Evans) Saltzer. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during a peacetime era.

A member of the Teamsters union, he was a truck driver, last working for Roadway Express for 35 years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Ziegels Union Church, Breinigsville.

He is survived by children, Melissa J. and her husband, Dr. Michael A. Phillips, of Sunbury, Michael B., of Rochester, N.Y., Matthew J. and his wife, Vickie, of Dillsburg; sister, Rita S. Kubert and her husband, Jack, of Liverpool, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; longtime companion, Ruth Billig, of Orefield.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Nicholas; brother, Dale.
