Roughies Report: CHS students inducted into university’s early college program
Congratulations to Catasauqua High School students Shelby, Amaya, Ava, Elizabeth and Ariana for their recent graduation and induction into Kutztown University’s Early College Academy! These students have been putting in extra work to get a head start on their future careers in education. By the time they graduate from high school, they will have already earned 12 college credits through this partnership with Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
It is great to see these Rough Riders working so hard toward their goals!

The CHS instrumental program is putting together a school/community summer concert band, and everyone is invited. If you have played an instrument through high school, still play an instrument, have a passion for music and/or have a child who is a member of the instrumental music program, this is for you. The idea of this summer program is to bring the community and school together through music.
Rehearsals will be 7-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, starting June 11, in either the music room or the auditorium stage at CHS.
At the end of August, the band will offer a free concert 2 p.m. Aug. 24 in the school auditorium. It will be open to the public.
All band participants will receive a folder full of music the group will perform for the concert. The school has all percussion instruments, chairs and music stands for the rehearsals and the performance, but it is the player’s responsibility to bring an instrument.
In order to participate in the band, you need to complete a form to obtain your clearances.
For more information on this process, visit the Catasauqua Music Department’s Facebook page and click on the link found on the flier. You can also email Robert Arnold at arnoldr@cattysd.org for more information.
