Catasauqua Main Streets hosted its eighth spring community cleanup May 2. The ages of the volunteers ranged from 10 years old to seniors, including some members of Scouting America Troop 94, who have participated in several previous cleanup events, according to Main Streets members Kim Brubaker and David Bernini.
The Catasauqua Main Streets organization hosts two community cleanup events a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. Organizers are always looking for more volunteers to get involved.
The organization provides supplies, including trash bags and gloves, as well as instructions on what to pick up and what not to for the safety of the volunteers. It also provided light snacks and water.
The goal of these regular events is to pick up litter to help keep the borough clean and beautiful and to engage members of the community.
