Moravian University senior Izzy Szmodis (Freedom) has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Szmodis helped the Greyhounds finish the regular season with a 4-1 win at The Catholic University of America as she won with junior Leah Zolotareva for a 6-4 victory at first doubles, and then she bumped up to first singles for a 6-4, 6-1 win.

“Izzy had a great week, winning both of her matches while stepping up in the lineup and competing at a higher singles position,” commented Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. “She delivered strong performances in both singles and doubles, and it’s great to see her finish the regular season on such a high note.”

Moravian is slated to return action on Thursday, April 30 in a Landmark Conference Tournament Semifinal match versus the winner of the First Round match between The Catholic University of America and Juniata College beginning at 4 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.
