LHS in district play

Liberty’s boys tennis team will have begun their quest for a District XI championship with matches on May 4 and May 5.

If the Hurricanes prevail, Liberty will compete in the Class 3A district final on May 7 at Lehigh University.

Last month, Erik Peterson won a first-round match in the district singles tournament with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Nazareth’s Lorinc Von Platen.

Peterson then joined teammate Luke D’Angelo in the district doubles tournament and defeated the pair from Easton in the first round, 6-0, 6-2.

Thomas Horvath and Finn Brown also won their first-round match, defeating the pair from Southern Lehigh, 6-2, 6-1.

In Class 2A, Bethlehem Catholic’s Liam Maloney and Derrick Hartman won their first-round match against Palmerton, 6-1, 7-6 (2).
