Nine township residents honored as volunteers

Nine Salisbury Township residents were lauded on a “night to honor and celebrate” their “dedication, service and lasting impact.”

The Salisbury Township Volunteer Recognition Awards Ceremony was held April 23 in the municipal building meeting room.

“This is one of the nice things we do in the township,” Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners President Debra J. Brinton said.

“Thank you for being the wonderful volunteers you are and making Salisbury a better place to live,” Brinton said to the volunteers, who were accompanied by family and friends.

- Lauren Wellbank was presented her award by township Commissioner Alex Karol, who noted, “She has the distinction of having three different people nominate her.”

Among the groups that Wellbank volunteers with are the Salisbury Elementary School Parent Teachers Organization and the Salisbury Youth Association, the latter as soccer vice president. She was credited for advocating for lights at Franko Park for night games.

- Jennifer Conrad was praised by Brinton, who said, “She gave many years to SYA.” Conrad’s work as vice president of the Salisbury Music Association was also noted.

“It was wonderful being part of any team that she is on,” it was said of Conrad.

- Frank Adamcik “has just given so many years and so much time,” Brinton said.

“Even though Frank retired from the board [of SYA], he is the first person the board turns to,” Brinton said.

- Ann Bove “has volunteered regularly at Salisbury Elementary School since 2016,” Brinton said, adding, “Ann and I go back many years.”

Bove, a retired Whitehall-Coplay School District second grade teacher, is an election poll worker and secretary-treasurer of the Allentown Public Library Board.

“Ann has dedicated her life to serve others through community involvement. Ann exemplifies the true spirit of volunteerism,” it was stated.

- Ian Dodson was honored as a volunteer as fire chief of Eastern Salisbury Fire Department. Dodson was unable to attend.

“He always puts the safety of others before himself. His passion for the fire service is evident,” it was said.

- Jennifer Freas, was lauded as president of the Salisbury Elementary School PTO. “Her dedication to students and staff has made a lasting impression,” township Commissioner Allie Leayman said.

Alexandra Mumbauer, a senior at Salisbury High School, “has been an active member of the Girl Scouts,” Leayman said.

Mumbauer is a youth mental health advocate and involved with the youth leadership organization. Her volunteer work includes United Way, Lehigh Valley Health Network and Meals on Wheels.

“Alexandra continues to make a difference in the Lehigh Valley community,” it was said.

- Bryan Cramsey has served on the SYA, most recently as president, township Commissioner Alok Patnaik said. Cramsey has been a coach and assistant coach for baseball, football and basketball.

- Sarah Nemitz is a member of the Salisbury Township School District board of education. She is the owner of Gingersnaps Bows and a volunteer with Salisbury Music Association, Boy Scout Troop 439 and the Trident Swim & Dive Team.

“She exemplifies what it means to serve a community,” it was said.

“It’s good to see so many different types of volunteers here,” Patnaik said.

The dinner was catered by Diana’s Catering & Gourmet Market, Center Valley.
