John H. Benedek

of Allentown

John H. Benedek, 74, of Allentown, formerly of Washington, N.J., died April 25, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital – Bethlehem campus. He was the husband of Naomi R. (Krause) Benedek to whom he was married 30 years. Born in Salem, N.J., he was the son of the late Dominik and Ida (Mikschl) Benedek.

He was employed at Lebanon Door in Lebanon, N.J. for 37 years before retiring in 2021. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Ziegels Union Church, Breinigsville. He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed country dancing and wood craftsmanship.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Rachel M., of Belvidere, N.J., Lindsay M. Gyorfi (Chad), of Belvidere, N.J.; stepchildren, Scott T. Hartman (Heidi), of Allentown, Kathy L. Mycio (Daniel), of Walnutport; siblings, Juliana Bernaski (John), of Oxford, N.J., Thomas (Lynn), of Weissport; Rosemarie Milkowski (Gary), of Glen Gardner, N.J., Denes (Robin), of South Carolina, Kathraina Brooks, of Hume, Mo., Melinda Robertson, of Washington, N.J.; grandchildren, Bradley Gyorfi, Riley Gyorfi, Daniel Mycio Jr., Corey Woomer, Kyle Woomer, Shaelynn Hartman, Kylie Hartman; many nieces, nephews, extended family; beloved kitties, Scooter and Luka.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. May 1, at Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, with the Rev. Andrew W. Meckstroth officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:50 a.m. before the service.
