Cetronia students treated to new books at annual book fair

Students at Cetronia Elementary School were treated to their annual book fair during the week the second week of April.

Sponsored by the Parents Association of Cetronia, the books are provided by Scholastic, a company founded in Wilkinsburg, Pa. in 1920.

It grew from publishing its first book a, collection of student writings from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards called “Saplings” to the world of Scholastic Book Fairs of today.

Scholastic introduced the world to “Clifford the Big Red Dog in 1963, a perennial favorite of young readers everywhere.

If children, as indicated by teachers, are unable to afford books, Scholastic provides them books at no charge.

Students then purchase paperback, hardback and custom books.

Scholastic returns 50% of their profit to the school.

On April 16, students from Emily Hamm’s third grade class had the opportunity to shop the book fair.

The students were delighted with the selection of books and lined up to purchase their choices at the checkout.
