BETHLEHEM AREA
DISTRICT DESIGN: Bethlehem Area School District has launched a new website to keep the community informed and engaged throughout an important long-range planning process. BASD is also inviting families, staff and community members to participate in a Community Survey to help guide future discussions and priorities. SCHOOL CLOSURE: All BASD schools will be closed May 19. Childcare and school offices will be open. Schools will also be closed Memorial Day, May 25.
LAST DAY: Friday, June 5, will be the last day of school for elementary and middle school students. (Previously, the last day was Monday, June 8). June 5 will be a full day of school. There will be no change to the calendar for high school students.
NITSCHMANN MS: Spring concert, April 29 at 7 p.m. ‘Celebrating the American Journey’ Ticketed event. Supporting families of Lily’s Hope Foundation.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS: April 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at BASD Stadium.
MUSIKFEST EVENT: BASD Media Marketing event, April 30 at 11:30 a.m. at the ArtsQuest Center. LHS and FHS Marketing Musikfest classes will publicly announce selected bands to play at Musikfest 2026.
BROUGHAL MS: Spring concert, April 30 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30. Ticketed event. Students younger than 18 are free.
EAST HILLS MS: Band and band front spring concert, April 30 at 7 p.m. Ticketed event.
FREEDOM HS: Athletic signing event, May 1 at 1:30 p.m. Art show, May 1 from 5:30 p.m.; spring choir concert, May 1 from 7 p.m.; selected ensembles spring concert, May 8 at 7 p.m.
LIBERTY HS: ‘An Evening of Pops’
featuring LHS Orchestra, First Co., and the Royal Stewart Jazz Band, May 1 from 7 p.m., Memorial Gym.
BEST AWARDS: The Bethlehem Educational Scholastic Trust Awards, established with the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation, honoring outstanding BASD teachers who make a lasting difference in the lives of students and our community. Since 2000, these awards have recognized excellence in teaching across all grade levels. Nominations may be submitted in English or Spanish. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION: The BASD will host in-person kindergarten registration events across the city to make registering easy, welcoming, and supportive for families. These events give families the opportunity to register their child for kindergarten, meet school staff, district teams, and community partners, get help with the registration process and ask questions and connect one-on-one.
