Poll’s game-winning goal tops Red Rovers
After just one game during opening week of the 2026 regular season, the Emmaus High School girls lacrosse team had a much busier week last week with three games.
The Hornets were victorious in two conference matchups, but dropped the nonleague game at the end of the week.
Emmaus took down Easton 8-7 last Tuesday, March 24, then defeated Northampton 17-0 at Memorial Field on Thursday before suffering its first setback of the season in an 11-4 loss at Wilson West Lawn.
In the victory over the Red Rovers, Rylie Poll led the attack with four goals, including the game-winner with just 0:03 to play. She added six draw controls and five ground balls.
Sarah Gross tallied two goals and both Taylor Younker and Avery Aquino finished with a goal and an assist.
Lily Smith and Aquino each grabbed three ground balls and Kate Rainford finished with five saves.
Emmaus scored a season-high in goals against the Kids, led by four from Ally Kusko, who also dished out three assists. Poll and Younker both had hat tricks with Poll adding three assists.
Sarah Palazzo scored twice and each of Aquino, Gross, Smith, Ava Roberts and Paige McClain found the back of the net once. Kathryn Newhard contributed three assists and had a ground ball. Rainford made three saves in net.
Against the Bulldogs, four different players scored, including Poll, Aquino, Palazzo and Gross, with Newhard adding an assist. Madison Lenig won a team-high three draw controls. Rainford finished with six saves.
Emmaus entered this week at 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
