Poll gets 100th point in win

The Emmaus High School girls lacrosse team finished off a perfect week last week heading into Easter weekend, winning both of its games in nonconference action.

The Hornets beat Northwestern Lehigh 13-8 last Monday and followed that with an 8-7 victory over Boyertown Thursday night.

In the victory over the Tigers, both Rylie Poll and Avery Aquino finished with three goals. Evelyn Gavin, Taylor Younker and Sarah Gross scored two goals each and Ally Kusko rounded out the scoring with a goal. Kusko and Gavin both had two assists, while Poll, Kathryn Newhard, Younker, Gross and Aquino all contributed one assist. Abbey Thomas collected a team-best five ground balls and forced a team-high four turnovers, while Madison Lenig won nine draw controls and grabbed three ground balls.

Kate Rainford finished with seven saves in net. Emmaus held a 20-17 edge in shots on goal.

In the win over the Bears, Poll scored her 100th career point, finishing with four goals and an assist. Gross tallied three goals and an assist and Newhard rounded out the scoring with a goal.

Gavin contributed two assists, two ground balls and won four draw controls. Lenig had three draw control wins and three ground balls. Aquino, Kusko and Sarah Palazzo all had an assist. Rainford made four saves. The Hornets outshot Boyertown 17-12.

Emmaus improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference with games on the schedule this week against some of the top teams in the East Penn Conference in unbeaten Pleasant Valley (7-0 overall; 3-0 EPC) Tuesday and Nazareth (5-1, 3-1) Thursday.

The EPC has five teams within a game of one another in the standings as Easton (5-1, 2-1) and Parkland (6-0, 1-0) have also gotten of to fast starts in 2026.
