PHS boys lacrosse wins two of first three games
The Parkland High School boys lacrosse team is under new leadership this season in first-year head coach Scott Ketcham.
The team opened the 2026 regular season with wins in two of its first three games last week, all three were nonconference games.
The Trojans began the season with a 13-6 victory in the home opener against Saucon Valley last Thursday. The next day, Parkland lost to Bergen Catholic 16-4, but bounced back Saturday at Southern Lehigh, winning 11-7.
In the win over the Panthers, the Trojans outscored Saucon 3-0 in the opening quarter and took an 8-4 lead at halftime.
The Parkland defense pitched another shutout quarter in the third. Both Danny Tapia and John Gerancher finished with four goals and each of Colton Arezzi, Matt Kelley, Nate Lowrey, Brycen Smith and Bailey Wetmore found the back of the net once. Gerancher contributed three assists and both Arezzi and Tapia added two.
Wetmore had one assist. Owen Fehnel finished with seven saves in net.
Against Bergen, the Trojans were held scoreless in the first half and trailed 8-0 and couldn’t complete the comeback. Arezzi led the attack with two goals and both Wetmore and Matt Scott rounded out the scoring with one goal.
Fehnel made 12 saves and T.J. Smith had one.
In the victory against the Spartans, Parkland trailed 4-3 after the first quarter and then tied the game before halftime at 5-5.
Arezzi paced the offense with five goals and each of Gerancher and Tapia scored twice. Scott and Smith both had one goal.
Tapia, Gerancher and Wetmore all dished out one assist. Fehnel finished with 16 saves.
Parkland has a three-game week, all on the road to complete a season-long four-game streak away from home. The Trojans were at Moravian Academy this past Tuesday, open up play in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference at Bethlehem Catholic Thursday and then are at Scranton Prep Saturday afternoon.
