Northwestern Lehigh weathered a stretch of three losses in four games before coming back Tuesday to defeat Southern Lehigh 12-6. The three teams that handed them losses – Nazareth, Allentown Central Catholic, and Emmaus – are a combined 14-9 this season and are perennially among the strongest teams in District 11.
The loss to Emmaus went to overtime before the Hornets added the winning goal in an 8-7 game. Northwestern had come back from a 4-3 deficit after one quarter to tie the game and went into halftime tied 5-5. They again trailed 6-5 at the end of three quarters before knotting up the game at 7-7 to force overtime.
Grayson Christman and Tyler Kaas both scored a pair of goals in the game for Northwestern. Trey Snyder, Logan Uricchio, and Kendall Wikert also added Northwestern Lehigh goals.
Things turned around on Tuesday in a big way with a strong 12-6 win over Southern Lehigh. Goalie Dane Kauker made 13 saves, including five in the final quarter to lock up the win. Kaas, Christman, and Wikert along with Brandon Uricchio were the leading scorers with Kaas putting in four goals, Christman scoring three times, and both Wikert and Uricchio coming up with a pair of goals. Snyder also added a goal in the win.
The Tigers (4-3) are at Saucon Valley today and host Parkland next Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
