Late-game rally puts down Parkland

The Emmaus High School softball team had its busiest week of the 2026 regular season last week as it played five games in the span of six days, four of which were Eastern Pennsylvania Conference contests.

The Hornets went 4-1, with the lone defeat coming in the nonconference game as they remain unbeaten in EPC play.

Emmaus began the week with a 16-0 win over Dieruff in four innings last Monday, April 6, then took down East Stroudsburg North 17-0 the next day in three innings. On Wednesday, the Hornets were victorious over Stroudsburg 6-3. After an off day, Emmaus went to rival Parkland and won 5-3 on Friday, before falling to Spring-Ford 7-2 Saturday.

In the win against ESN, Emmaus scored 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning and four more in the second to end the game early via the mercy rule.

The Hornets had 11 hits, led by three from Haleigh Gigliotti, who also had four RBI. Both Morgan Schwab and Abigail Derr finished with two hits, with Schwab adding three RBI and scoring three runs and Derr had two runs scored. Calise Eiswerth, Sydney Bennett, Brianna Gitski and Mari Eiswerth all had a hit and Caylie Granitz chipped in two RBI. Calise Eiswerth threw three innings and gave up just one hit, striking out five for the win.

In the victory over the Mounties, the Hornets scored twice in the top of the second inning and then added one more in each of the third and fourth to go up 4-0. Stroudsburg got on the scoreboard with a run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth to cut its deficit to just one, but Emmaus added two more insurance runs in the sixth.

Mari Eiswerth tossed a complete game, scattering five hits while striking out eight inside the circle while 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Derr also had two hits and Taylor Hauver drove in a pair of runs on a two-run HR.

In the win versus the Trojans, Parkland led 3-0 going into the fifth inning after a three-run bottom of the third. But the Hornets rallied with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to complete the comeback.

Emmaus had seven hits, three of which were from the bat of Mari Eiswerth, who also had an RBI. Derr, Schwab, Bennett and Autumn Tarbox all ended with a hit, Schwab adding two RBIs. Hauver and Tarbox also had an RBI each. Eiswerth threw a complete game, striking out eight and allowing six hits to earn the victory inside the circle.

Against the Rams, Emmaus took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but host Spring-Ford responded with one in the bottom-half of the frame and then three more in both the third and fourth innings to take a 7-1 advantage. The Hornets finished with five hits, all from different players, including Gigliotti, Tarbox, Hauver, Schwab and Mari Eiswerth. Hauver and Derr both recorded an RBI.

Emmaus improved to 9-3 overall and 8-0 in the conference.
