Hornet boys tennis ends regular season

The Emmaus boys tennis team finished the regular season Monday with a loss to Parkland, just the second setback of the season for the Hornets (16-2 overall; 13-2 East Penn Conference).

In Monday’s 6-1 loss to unbeaten Parkland, Cole Stuchko earned the Hornets’ only win at No. 3 singles.

Emmaus beat Nazareth 5-1 on Friday.

Chris Stone and Stuchko won singles matches against the Blue Eagles, while the doubles teams of Ben Brooks and Adam Waddell, Joe Brisgone and Sai Uppiretla, and Krishna Nemani and Aba Diop also won matches against Nazareth.

The Hornets shut out Blue Mountain 5-0 in a nonleague match last Thursday. Stone, Caleb Brown and Stuchko won singles matches, while Brooks/Waddell and Brisgone/Uppiretla were winning doubles pairings against the Eagles.

Emmaus beat Central Catholic 6-1 last Wednesday.

Stone, Brown and Stuchko swept the singles matches against the Vikings, while Brisgone/Uppiretla and Nemani/Diop won doubles matches. Caleb Yo and Jackson Iyengar won the alternate doubles match.

Emmaus beat Whitehall 6-1 last Monday, April 6.

Stone, Brown and Stuchko won singles matches. Brooks/Waddell, Brisgone/Uppiretla and Nemani/Iyengar were winners in doubles matches for Emmaus against the Zephyrs.

The Hornets will compete in the East Penn Conference Championships Thursday before the District 11 postseason begins next week with the singles tournament.
