William O. Arner
William O. Arner, 87, of New Tripoli, died unexpectedly April 14, 2026, while fishing in North Whitehall Township. He was the husband of the late Shirley M. (Longacre) Arner. Born in Palmerton, Carbon County, he was the son of the late Harry T. and Mildred A. (Daubenspeck) Arner.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during a peacetime era and was employed as a tool grinder at Mack Trucks Inc., in Macungie for 31 years before retiring in 1996.
An avid outdoorsman, he was a life member of North End Rod & Gun Club, New Tripoli, a member of the Amateur Trapshooting Association and Trout Unlimited.
He was a member of Heidelberg Union Church, Slatington.
He is survived by daughter, Diane L., of New Tripoli; brothers, David R. and Debbie, of Orefield, Dale F. and Gay, of Orefield; sister-in-law Bonita L., of Orefield; grandchildren, Tyler Motzkus, of Lehighton, Melissa E. Schnyder, of Hellertown; step- granddaughter, Abbey Grozier-Schnyder, of Bethlehem; great-grandchildren, Kora, Jude, Henry.
He is predeceased by brothers, Thomas M., Michael P.; stepson, Randy Schnyder.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. April 23, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Russell Campbell officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. before the service. Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., handled the arrangements.
